Oxyopes javanus Thorell, 1887
Common name: Striped lynx spider
Size: Female 6-8 mm, Male 5-7 mm.
Distribution: India, China to Java, Philippines


Description: Cephalothorax longer than wide, broadest behind the middle. Dorsum with a broad V shaped pale mark. Lateral margins with brownish patches. Fovea long and located a little behind the middle. Anterior row of eyes strongly recurved, forming two separate rows; posterior row procurved. Ocular quadrangle longer than wide, slightly narrower behind. Sternum heart shaped, yellowish brown, ventral surface clothed with a few long dark prominent hairs. Maxillae longer than wide, yellowish brown, anterior end slightly narrowed, outer margin concave, bearing a few long dark hairs. Labium longer than wide, reaching only up to half the length of maxillae. Middle portion of maxillae dilated to an angular end. Chelicerae yellowish brown, front surface with a dark brown line extending down from anterior median eyes. Clypeus yellowish brown, with a pair of dark brown lines. Ventral side of legs with blackish line. Abdomen longer than wide, middle region whitish, lateral sides dark brown, posterior end with a median dark patch. Ventrum pale with a median broad dark brown patch. Epigyne with two lateral sclerotised structures.


Natural History: Usually forage on the upper surfaces of green leaves and bushes.
